Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

booktag

Hello fellow book nerds! I’ve seen this book tag around lately and I am finally caving in and doing it. I love reading other peoples answers so I hope you somewhat enjoy mine, since they are unpopular opinions.

I stole this from Fiction No Chaser on of my favorite blogs!

Do you agree with any of my Unpopular Opinions?

Happy Reading!

A popular book or series that you didn’t like

Starting off strong but A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. Okay – I liked the first book, a lot. But then A Court of Mist and Fury came along and I was like am I even reading the same story? The complete change from the first book really didn’t sit well with me and by the end, I wasn’t feeling Feyre. I finished the book and tried A Court of Wings and Ruin and probably got 10% in before I officially gave up.

A popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love

I honestly don’t know? I love Penryn and the End of Days by Susan Ee but have known others that don’t really like it. But I think it was fantastic – maybe I’ll reread it soon…

A love triangle where the main character ended up with the person you didn’t want them to end up with or an OTP you don’t like

I don’t know if this counts but I hated the way The Kricket Series by Amy A. Bartol ended. The first two books I was all about but then the way she switched after everything she went through…. BOO! I still enjoyed the series even though I didn’t like the way it ended.

A popular book genre that you hardly reach for

Erotica or heavy romance novels. I just don’t do it.

A popular or beloved character that you do not like

I still hate Gale. I’ve never liked him and when I sit and stew – I like him even less.

A popular author that you can’t seem to get into

I don’t know if this really counts but Leigh Bardugo. I tried Six of Crows and did not like it at all that it really has turned me off from trying her other books.

A popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing

Intsa-love. Give me the relationship buildup!

A common series that you have no interest in reading

Hmmm… well I have no interest in continuing the A Court of Thorns and Roses series (still don’t even know why the series is called this because book 1 feels so null and void) but I honestly don’t know if I will ever pick up Shatter Me. I’ve seen a lot of back and forth on it and have never really been close to picking it up.

The saying goes “The book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or TV show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?

I know and understand the disappointments of The Golden Compass but honestly, I loved the movie and I’m even more excited for the new TV series.

  1. !! I complete with you about ACOTAR!! ACOMAF is everyone’s favorite in the series, but I thought it just went off the rails. The character switch was a complete 180, and I didn’t think it really made much sense?? I think a lot of people really liked where the plot was going, but I guess the development of it just wasn’t working for me :O Great tag!!

  2. I’m cringing while writing this, but I pretty much gave up where you did in the ACOTAR series. I also just wasn’t feeling it anymore. I liked the first one, though.

  3. Meh, I ended up loving ACOTAR, but I can see how it’s not for everyone. But I am with you 100% on Gale from the Hunger Games. I didn’t like him then, and I don’t like him now. He’s just a butt.

  4. Without spoiling – I actually loved the way the Kricket series ended! It definitely took a weird turn in the third one, but I was kind of a fan 🤷🏼‍♀️
I also loved Penryn and can’t stand Gale!
