Summary

Taken from Goodreads

Have you ever heard of the old Celtic legends of the Fae – beautiful, magical, deadly, and a love of messing with humans just for kicks and giggles?

Welcome to my world.

What started out as a strange assignment leads to one of the most gruesome murder mysteries of our time, and my friends and I are set and determined to find out who is killing off Fae and Witches alike.

Couple of problems in the way – I hate the Fae, and the Prince of the Dark Fae is bound and determined that I work for him. He’s a rude, overbearing, egotistical ass with a compulsive need to possess, dominate, and control me. Oh – did I mention that he is absolutely sex-on-a-stick gorgeous and he makes me feel things that I never ever wanted to feel for a Fae…. Every time he touches me or looks at me with those golden eyes, he seems to pull me further in under his spell, despite my better judgment.

My friends and I can’t trust anyone, and nothing is as it seems on the surface – not even me.

Feedback

Wow. This book was way better than I anticipated being. Maybe I was judging the book by its cover? But the story was so rich and entertaining. In this world, everyone is aware of the paranormal. The fae, especially, are on every news network. Luckily the witches are a little more secretive so they have more privacy. The Dark Fae Prince is set to marry the Light Fae Princess but she is being targeted. Her picture is found defiled at crime scenes where fae and witches alike are being murdered for different body parts. Ryder, the dark fae prince, hired Synthia’s guild and her personal coven to look into the murders. Synthia hates the fae for personal reasons and has reserves about working with them but since witches are involved also, she decides to work with them. Obviously, there is way more that happens but I don’t like writing spoiler reviews so you’ll just have to wait and find out. This story was honestly so interesting. The author did a fantastic job in brining a plot into this romance novel. It was definitely a different approach to the romance in this novel also. The fae feed while they have sex. So, when they need to feed, they just do the deed. And Ryder is determined to get Synthia which caused interesting scenes. I loved the pacing of this novel and it ran so smoothly together. This book was such a success that I cannot wait to continue this series.

I absolutely loved these characters. Synthia was honestly such a bad ass character that her consistent whining never bothered me… and she did complain a good amount. Her character development was so fantastic though. I really found myself attached to her. Then the attraction that sizzled between her and Ryder was unbelievable. This was an ultimate enemies to lovers trope but I don’t know if they really ever got out of the enemy zone. Ryder was an interesting character. While his chapters don’t really seem much other than explaining how much he wants to make Cynthia his, it shows that there is more to his character than we know. The side characters were just as amazing also. I felt connected to each one and wanted to know more. The next book will definitely be interesting with the revelations that were given at the end of the book.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Fighting Destiny was a wonderfully plotted book. Along with the very well written plot, there were plenty of steamy moments also. The author definitely didn’t skimp on those parts. I loved the characters and what they brought to this story. I highly recommend this book if your looking for a new twist on the paranormal world with a lot of sexual tension.

Audio Review

NOTE: The narration does not affect my rating of the book

Sarah Puckett does it again. She is seriously such an amazing narrator and I have loved everything she has done so far. Stephen Dexter did a fantastic job also. Even though he didn’t have much narration he was the perfect voice for Ryder. This is definitely an audio I would recommend.
